I am planning to upgrade the tires on my Nissan Patrol and I am not sure what size would be best. My current tires are 265/70 R17 and I am considering going up to 285/70 R17. Will this affect the performance or fuel efficiency of my vehicle?
ReplyIt really depends on your personal preference and the terrain you will be driving on. Generally, a wider tire can provide better traction on loose surfaces, but it may also decrease fuel efficiency. I would recommend consulting with a trusted mechanic or off-road specialist for specific recommendations for your Nissan Patrol.
I have been using 285/70 R17 tires on my Nissan Patrol for years and have had no issues with performance or fuel efficiency. In fact, I have found that they provide better traction and stability off-road. However, keep in mind that every vehicle is different and what works for one may not work for another. It's always best to do some research and consult with experts before making any changes.
I switched from 265/70 R17 tires to 285/70 R17 on my Nissan Patrol and noticed a significant decrease in fuel efficiency. However, I do appreciate the added traction and stability on rough terrain. I would say if you do mostly highway driving, stick with the smaller tires for better gas mileage. But if you're an off-road enthusiast like myself, go for the larger tires.
